Chicago is also known as the Second City, but Taste of Life would hardly describe the fine dining scene in Chicago as second to anything. We'll watch the innovative Executive Chef of Gordon Restaurant create a unique and succulent dish that would certainly impress even the most critical of connoisseurs. Outside of Chicago, Taste of Life we'll visit a remarkable, humanitarian woman and her very special herb garden. Not only does she grow and package homegrown herbs, but she also opens her garden to chefs for cooking lessons and to the local hospital for patient therapy, utilizing her home grown bounty.
Gordon
There's no place in America like this Chicago legend. Proprietor Gordon Sinclair's impeccable culinary standards, whimsically sophisticated style and knowledgeable staff have made Gordon restaurant legendary. According to the New York Times, "Gordon survived to become one of Chicago's best restaurant." And Bon Appetit says "[Gordon Sinclair] is a legacy from an era when America's great restaurateurs possessed the pizazz and charm to win, and retain, a loyal clientele."
Mari-Mann Herbs
Outside of the bustling noise of Metropolitan Chicago, Taste of Life found a patch of heavenly calm in Mari-Mann Herbal Garden. Maribeth King started Mari-Mann in 1976. In spite of its name, Mari-Mann is more than a mere sprawling garden, adorned with herb beds. Maribeth King also runs cooking classes, craft lectures and even a thriving retail business selling delicious specialty food products.
